What you need
- A converted site from canva-to-html (you'll get a .zip file)
- A free Netlify account
That's it. Netlify's free tier covers static sites with generous bandwidth. You won't need to pay anything for hosting unless your site gets serious traffic.
Step by step
1. Convert your Canva site
Go to canva-to-html.com, paste your published Canva URL, and pay the $5 conversion fee. The tool will capture your entire site and give you a .zip download.
2. Unzip the download
Extract the .zip file. You'll get a folder with your HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, and fonts. Everything your site needs to run.
3. Drop it on Netlify
Go to app.netlify.com/drop and drag your unzipped folder onto the page. Netlify will upload it and give you a live URL within seconds.
Your site is now live at something like random-name-12345.netlify.app.
4. Preview and check
Click the URL Netlify gave you. Scroll through every page. Make sure animations play, images load, and links work. The converted site should look and behave just like it did on Canva.
Want your own domain?
By default, Netlify gives you a .netlify.app subdomain. If you want something like yourname.com, you can set that up in Netlify's domain settings. We wrote a separate guide on how to add a custom domain that walks through the whole process.
Updating your site later
If you make changes to your Canva site and want to update the hosted version, just convert it again and re-upload to Netlify. Go to your site's dashboard on Netlify, find the "Deploys" tab, and drag the new folder in. The old version gets replaced instantly.
Testing locally first
If you want to preview your site on your own computer before uploading, open a terminal in the unzipped folder and run:
npx serve -s .This starts a local server. Open the URL it prints and you can see exactly what the hosted version will look like.
